Hi friends,
Happy Monday!
If you’re in for a five-minute chat before you get back to your grind, read through. (You will need more time though if you decide to explore the links I shared below. Bookmark them for later!)
The last time I received BTC from a foreign address was through a Ponzi scheme. Last Saturday, I got paid in Bitcoin for doing a micro-task.
So, this is how the future feels like. Bitcoin-as-money, and not bitcoin-as-game. It will change the global landscape of remote work.
How did I arrive at this little experiment? Let me take you back to seven days ago.
I spent the week listening to the 3.5-hour podcast of The Tim Ferriss show, featuring Balaji Srinavasan-- angel investor, entrepreneur, and serial futurist. Dubbed as the “episode of everything”, Balaji shared predictions on drone warfare, the dark horse that is India, the future of Bitcoin, and countless gold nuggets in between.
He also shared about 1729.com, which opened up a universe of rabbit holes for me.
1729’s slogan is “Learn Skills. Earn Crypto.” Sounds deceptively simple. Yet, the grand objective behind this is to bootstrap talent regardless of geography.
What was the micro-task? To submit striking examples of the ascending world-- outstanding pockets of innovation outside the dominant West. My entry: Genius Invention Generates Energy from Traffic. I got paid 25 USD in BTC for a ten-minute task. Sweet.
Here are two videos of key ideas that inspired Balaji:
Ramanujan, self-taught genius mathematician - The Man who knew Infinity (Trailer)
Super 30 (Al Jazeera) - Anand Kumar’s revolutionary mathematics program
I must admit that this whole discussion is overwhelming to explain in this short email!
For now, let me leave you with this question: Could you imagine receiving your salary in Bitcoin, Ethereum, or other cryptocurrencies in the future?
Yes? No? Either way, it’s beginning to happen now.
Crypto will be one of the biggest equalizers of remote work. Research about it. I’ll leave my other thoughts in the dark room for now.
Happy Monday,
Kiara

Thanks for hanging out!
